Carola Carrannante joins the GEF as new Regulatory Counsel

Last month, the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation (GEF) welcomed Carola Carrannante to its growing team. In a newly created role, Carola will support the GEF as Regulatory Counsel and be responsible for drafting key internal procedures. She will also serve as clerk to the Disciplinary Commission and Appeal Tribunal.

“This is very exciting for me, because the GEF is a relatively new entity, which receives quite a high number of complaints and therefore has a lot of potential for growth,”

said Carola.

“The outmost important thing for me is to ensure that all parties to disciplinary proceedings are heard and that their procedural rights are respected, while sports justice is ensured.”

She added:

“The Gymnastics Ethics Foundation has been at the forefront of the fight against abuse and harassment and I truly support all of its objectives.”

Carola Carrannante, the GEF's new Regulatory Counsel

Born and raised in Milan (Italy), Carola Carrannante graduated in law in 2018 and started her professional career in the finance sector. However, as a sports enthusiast, she soon decided to combine her passion with her career, and to do an additional LLM in International Sports Law. Carola then first worked with UEFA, before joining the Legal Department of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).

Alex McLin, Director of the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation, said:

“Carola is an important addition to our team. Through her previous roles in other sports organisations, she has significant regulatory and disciplinary experience, all aimed at protecting the integrity of sport and its participants. In line with the priorities of our strategic framework Gymnasts 2028, Carola will support us in further strengthening our disciplinary procedures and enhancing our internal capacities.”
